For a healthy pregnancy, kiss your partner more

Aside from romance, researchers have discovered a new feature to kiss: pregnant women’s immune system, protects the fetus from birth defects and help maintain a healthy pregnancy.

British researchers believe that kissing is beyond sexual function, a very important biological function: spreading microbes that colonize the mouth.

This happens with cytomegalovirus, which lies in the saliva and normally presents no health threat. But if it causes an infection during pregnancy, the virus is extremely dangerous and may endanger fetal life, as it can cause serious birth defects (from deafness to cerebral palsy).

Spread the virus by kissing another woman before pregnancy allows to develop immunity against a possible devastating infections. Thus, both she and the fetus will be protected throughout pregnancy.

Experts say kiss the same person for about six months provides optimal protection and kisses are as passionate, effective immune system increases considerably.

Cytomegalovirus Infection

It is often asymptomatic (a 90%). The risk of infection transmission from mother to fetus can be considered as a real public health problem. Fetal infection occurs in about 40% of cases and is more dangerous with how to install earlier.

What happens to infected fetuses?

90% of them will have no symptoms at birth. In the first years of life, however, problems begin to occur: 10% will have sequels neuro-sensory (mental retardation, deafness), 10% will have symptomatic infections (cytomegalovirus disease), 20% will die, and 90% of those will survive and sensory neurological sequelae remain severe (microcephaly, chorioretinitis, blindness, deafness bilateral).
