Foods to Help With Postpartum Depression

After giving birth, every new mother feels tired and is (especially) overwhelmed by a feeling of depression caused by changes in her life — the baby, the fact that she needs to breastfeed him, the fact that she needs to take care of him and the fact that all you do is try to steal some sleep while getting bored.

Doctors however, say that certain foods can help to recover after birth making this whole period more pleasant. A first good remedy to get rid of postpartum depression is by having a well balanced diet.

Here are foods that help you get rid of depression after birth:

  • Nuts of all sorts — but be careful if you want to lose weight fast
  • Canola oil;
  • Herring;
  • Flax oil;
  • Eggs
  • Salmon — while this is very oily, it’s healthy oil that will benefit your brain;
  • Tuna.

Typically, foods high in omega 3 managed to get rid of depression if eaten in a more balanced way.

However, doctors recommend eating protein. New mother will need to eat cooked chicken or turkey, and more fish.

Milk, yogurt, eggs, peanut butter are other essential elements for the new mother can pass safely over postpartum depression.
